Backroads Veteran Filming

Paestan Canoe Hire and the Veterans of South Western Victorian Area (RSL Active Warrnambool, RSL Heywood, Legacy Melbourne, Open Arms) were lucky enough to take part in a Backroads segment based on the Healing Properties of being in Nature!

Veterans Karen, Adam.K, Alicia, James and their familes (Beno, Finno, Billy & Adam.V) opened up about the journey they encountered during a recent Veteran Canoe Camp that was held on the Bochara River. The group joined us on a “mateship” camp where we relaxed and enjoyed the peacefulness of the river – a time to sit back and reset!  Julie-Ann Finney (mother of David Finney who sadly lost the battle with PTSD ) and her Mother Jan (Davids Grandma) joined our veterans as we grouped together to reconnect our little defence family and honour the life of David and his 20 year commitment to service in the Australian Defence Force.

The Veteran Canoe Camp will continue as a rememberance paddle annually in Davids legacy.

The filming was based in Pattersons Canoe Camp where we enjoyed ot camp oven style food, plenty of laughs, troublesome Possums – whom stole our canoe secretly overnight along with most of our food!  A few attempts at feeding the fish and lots of time spent up trees removing lures from overhanging branches!
